Scientific Cutting Tools announces the launch of its most recent product line: roughing drills for SAEJ1926 and AS5202 ports. The drills are designed specifically to prepare holes for those ports, sizes -2 through -8.
Composed of 10% micro-grain carbide with coolant through-holes, the roughing drills are said to offer optimal wear resistance, which can enable longer tool life and reduced cycle time. The drills are meant to be used in a variety of types of ferrous materials, stainless steel and high-temperature alloys.
“The roughing drills round out the line of tools we offer to manufacturers who are making ports,” says Jonathan Christopher, Scientific Cutting Tools’ director of manufacturing. “We wanted to add drills that will complement the port tools and thread mills we already offer. This will make it easier for our customers to order what they need in one place and at one time.”
